As in many sports the key to the full enjoyment of scuba diving is proper preparation, and practicing safe procedures before, during, and after the dive. There is no better place than Phuket to become a certified diver or to upgrade your level of diving skills. The warm turquoise blue water of the Andaman Sea offers a superb underwater classroom. Most of professional dive shops offer a full range of diving classes that allow you to earn full PADI or NAUI certification. One local dive shop, Dive Asia of Kata beach was recently designated as the the first Five-Star PADI CDC (Career Development Center) in Phuket and one of only two in all of Southeast Asia. Going with a diving school considered by PADI to be qualified to keep professional diving instructors up-to-date in thier profession would seem a good bet for students at any level.

You do not have to know anything more than how to swim to take a course. It is not even necessary to be in tip-top condition physical condition as the courses are designed to make learning enjoyable. The dive shops carry a full line of dive equipment for use by students and also for rental.

Introductory Diving Course 1 Day
Price Range US$90-$120

A safe and fun way to experience scuba diving for the first time. Your instructor will teach you basic theory and familiarize you with the equipment before guiding you on a controlled dive of limited depth, and practice with you in shallow water near the shore. Then you will make two open ocean dives under the close supervision of your instructor either at a nearby coral reef or in the clear water of Ko Raja Island. The price includes all diving equipment, boat trip, lunch, and instruction by a certified diving instructor.

If it's been a while since your last dive, or you feel that your skills and knowledge are a little "rusty", then take this PADI refresher course. Our instructor will review diving theory and skills, making sure that you haven't forgotten anything! The half-day course includes classroom and shallow water training.

Open Water Diver Course 4-Days
Price Range US$175-$280

This internationally recognized training is for the beginner or uncertified diver and will give you the knowledge and skills to safely explore the underwater world. Completion of this course qualifies you for a PADI Open Water Diver Certificate that allows you to dive anywhere in the world. The course is divided in theory and practice sessions. The first two days are devoted to academic training and shallow water skill development sessions. During the remaining two days you will complete four supervised open water training dives allowing you the freedom to experience the beautiful tropical reefs of the Andaman Sea. Depending on the time of year, your open water training dives will include 4 beach dives, or two 1-day trips. The price includes the PADI 'Open Water Diver Manual', all diving equipment, a T-shirt, a logbook and the PADI registration fee.

Advanced Open Water Course
Price Range US$110-$250

The Advanced Course takes two full days. This popular course allows you to learn advanced diving techniques while you dive on Phuket’s beautiful reefs at the same time. This is a "hands-on" course with minimal classroom time and plenty of diving. After covering the required academic training you will complete 3 "core" dives - underwater navigation, diving to deep levels, and night diving in these areas. You will also select and complete 2 "elective" dives in areas such as are Multilevel Diving, Boat Diving, Drift Diving, Search and Recovery and the popular Underwater Naturalist.

PADI Medic First Aid Course
Price Range US$75-$90

A basic one-day training course in emergency care useful to both diver and non-diver. Covers CPR, resuscitation, and many other life-saving techniques. A prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver Course.

PADI Rescue Diver Course 2-Days
Price Range US$220-$280

This rewarding course for the advanced diver will teach you self rescue skills, problem prevention and accident management, as well as how to respond to and deal with a diving emergency. Be prepared, and learn how to recognize, prevent, or deal with a diving related problem. It is an enjoyable way to become a more experienced and responsible diver. The 3 day course involves academic training, and 5 in water training sessions.

PADI Divemaster Course
Price Range US$580-$660

This demanding but exciting course is the first step on the professional ladder. This course generally runs 3-4 weeks, and hones your diving knowledge to the professional instructor level. Become an all round diving expert who can safely lead fellow divers through all types of diving. If your interest and love of diving has developed to the point where you would like be responsible for the welfare and safety of others, as well as sharing with them the fascination of the underwater world, then you are ready for PADI Divemaster.

Cavern Diver Speciality Course
Price Range US$480

This is a four-day PADI certified specialty course. One of the great benefits of doing the course, apart from being able to dive the spectacular caves and caverns of the Phi Phi Islands, is that you will find that your buoyancy control skills will be greatly enhanced in open water diving. Diving in overhead environments can be potentially hazardous for the untrained diver. Our course is designed to give you the training and knowledge to undertake cavern dives safely. At the end of the course you will receive the PADI Cavern Diver Specialty certification.

PADI Speciality Course like underwater photography etc.
These are special interest courses to develop advanced skills in diving techniques such as Underwater Photography, Search and Recovery and Underwater Naturalist are ideal for those divers wishing to have more detailed knowledge in specialized aspects of scuba diving. Devote two days of your dive holiday to a Specialty Course! For example, many live-aboard cruises offer an excellent opportunity to take the Photography Course.
